Über Gibraltar National Museum
Founded in 1930 by Governor Sir Alexander Godley, the Gibraltar National Museum is the territory's principal museum of history, culture, and natural history. Highlights include forensic reconstructions of the Gibraltar 1 and Gibraltar 2 Neanderthal skulls, a remarkably preserved 14th-century Moorish bathhouse (Hammam), an impressive 8-metre scale model of the Rock built in 1865, and an open-air archaeological garden spanning seven centuries of excavation. The museum provides essential context for understanding Gibraltar's layered history.
