À propos de St Michael's Cave

First mentioned by Roman travel writer Pomponius Mela in 45 CE, St Michael's Cave is a network of spectacular limestone caverns deep inside the Rock of Gibraltar. Over millennia, the slow seepage of rainwater through limestone has created extraordinary stalactite and stalagmite formations. The main cathedral-like chamber houses a 400-seat auditorium used for concerts and events, and a sound-and-light show illuminates the cave's natural formations in vivid colour.

Conseils aux visiteurs

The cave interior is cool - bring a light layer even in summer.

Check the schedule for the sound-and-light show times.

Lower St Michael's Cave tours are available by special arrangement for a more adventurous spelunking experience.

Photography is allowed but tripods may not be permitted during shows.
