Sobre St Michael's Cave
First mentioned by Roman travel writer Pomponius Mela in 45 CE, St Michael's Cave is a network of spectacular limestone caverns deep inside the Rock of Gibraltar. Over millennia, the slow seepage of rainwater through limestone has created extraordinary stalactite and stalagmite formations. The main cathedral-like chamber houses a 400-seat auditorium used for concerts and events, and a sound-and-light show illuminates the cave's natural formations in vivid colour.
