Informazioni Gorham's Cave Complex (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Gorham's Cave Complex, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016, is one of the last known habitations of Neanderthals in Europe. The complex comprises four caves - Gorham's Cave, Vanguard Cave, Hyaena Cave, and Bennett's Cave - on the eastern cliffs of the Rock. Archaeological evidence spanning over 100,000 years includes Neanderthal rock engravings, evidence of bird and marine animal hunting, and use of feathers for ornamentation. Access to the caves is strictly controlled; most visitors view the site from the Gorham's Cave Viewing Platform.
