About O'Hara's Battery

O'Hara's Battery sits at the highest point of the Rock of Gibraltar at 426 metres (1,396 ft) above sea level, offering 360-degree panoramic views across two continents and two seas. Named after General Charles O'Hara, Governor of Gibraltar from 1795 to 1802, the battery was originally intended to allow the British to fire down into the Spanish siege lines. It was later re-armed during the Victorian era and remained in active military use into WWII.
